  • Day one
    - Your tattoo will be wrapped in Saniderm when you leave the shop. You will want to leave this on for 24-36 hours. - When you remove the wrap, be sure to first wash your hands with an antibacterial fragrance-free liquid soap (such as Dial). It is recommended that you remove the wrap either during a shower or under running warm water. Next, using your fingertips, clean your tattoo with the antibacterial soap and warm water. Gently pat it dry with a clean towel. - When the skin is dry, apply a THIN layer of Aquaphor or A&D ointment to the tattoo. Reapply as needed.
  • The next two weeks
    - Continue to apply a THIN layer of the ointment to your tattoo 2-3 times per day, or when it feels dry. - Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight. - Do NOT scratch or pick at your tattoo. It will likely itch during the healing process and you might see dark flakes peel off as it heals. This is completely normal. - Do NOT swim, go in a hot tub, or take a bath.
  • And on...
    - As your tattoo heals, it is expected for it to lose some of its initial vibrancy. In order to avoid excessive fading, be diligent with applying sunscreen for the lifetime of your tattoo. - With extremely fine-line tattoos, it is possible that some touch-ups may be needed in certain areas once the healing process is complete. Touch-ups are always free, just shoot an email to info@kingtideink.com to schedule a time to come in.
